About Angela Bauer



Professional long boarder since 1999  and president and founder of WILA( Women’s International Longboard Association).  As the president of WILA, she worked towards the growth of surfing in South America promoting contests and free long-board workshops in Brazil, Mexico, Peru and France. As a professional longboader she has won some important titles, such as:

-First Brazilian Champion in 2002
-First Place in the West Side Wahine Contest at Makaha HI in 2002
-Vice Champion at the Oxbow Long-board World Tour in 2003
-Rio de Janeiro, Brazil champion in 2004
-Third place at Petrobras long-board classic in Bahia Brazil
-27th place out of 75 girls at the first Roxy world championship in France.

Angela surfed a wave in a river called Dordogne in France, the wave is called The Mascaret and is very well know in Europe. In 2006 she surfed it for 8 minutes…She got featured on some French magazines and at the national news. She used to ride for Oxbow, a french company, for 5 years but they changed ownership and decided to stop the woman’s collection in Brazil.

She also spend some of her time helping non profit organizations that protect the environment. She worked for The Brazilian Rain Forest Society with an eco-museum project at Mato Grosso. 
She  has also worked with the Surf Rider Foundation doing beach clean-ups all over Brazil.

Currently She is  getting involved with reef check, a non profit organization that protects the coral reefs around the world.

Angela has an  International Surfing Association diploma as a Surf Instructor and she has also visited several universities to lecture on Women and Radical Sports.

She has also worked as a Landscape designer,  private yoga teacher, sports massage theraphist and iridologist.  She graduated from Hawaiian Pacific University in marketing for public and non profit organizations at 1996.

She has  a lot of magazine and newspaper articles about her life, as well as appearances on TV. The best surf program in Brazil is called Super Surf on Sport TV, and they made a special about me in Dec. 2005. I was also shown on the travel channel in Mexico  while I was surfing and talking about long-boarding. This material is  on dvd and it‘s avaible upon request.

I
n 2004, with the help of a few she  started a line of women’s long-boards with her own signature designs, it worked out really good and I end up winning  2004 Rio de Janeiro Longboard Championship. 

Since then Angela has been traveling between Brazil, France and Peru competing, exploring new waves and promoting her long board for girls designs. In 2006 Angela surfed the famous wave called the Mascaret that brake in Dordogne river at Bordeoux France.

She is featured in 2007 Guiness Book of World Records for been part of a 42 surfers to ride the same wave simultaneously at Rio de Janeiro Brazil.
